Whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Tic Tok, Snapchat, or any other social media platform, we all know that posting content on social is a huge part of our marketing strategy.
But do you actually know what you should be posting? Or have you just been putting posts out there because you know you have to?
It’s very easy to fall into that second group. You have so many other things to worry about in your business and life that maybe social media doesn’t get all the attention it deserves.
And that’s perfectly okay, but from here on out it’s time to start consciously creating your social media posts.
That’s why today I’m sharing three things that you need to have in every single social media post to connect with your audience and build your following.
A clear objective
The first thing that you need to have with any social media post you put out into the world is an objective.
Are you looking to educate people? Are you looking to entertain? Do you want to inspire? Are you creating curiosity? Are you making the sale?
You always need to be trying to do something with your social media posts. You can’t just post mindless crap that doesn’t have any sort of intention behind it.
Your audience isn’t going to get anything out of it and it’s actually going to end up hurting you in the long run. Social media platforms are looking for people who have engaging and valuable content, so if all you’re doing is posting for no reason, you’re going to start diminishing your rankings.
Think about what your intention is before you post anything online. Ask yourself:
- What’s your objective?
- What are you trying to convey?
- What are you trying to teach?
- What action do you want people to take?
- What are you trying to get people to understand or create a conversation around?
Value for your audience
The second thing that every single one of your posts on social media needs to have is value.
If you’ve been around here for a while then you know how much I talk about adding value to your marketing and that’s because creating a relationship and building value with your audience is crucial to growing your business.
If you’re not providing value to your audience, why are they following you? What’s the point?
You need to make sure that all of your posts have value to your audience. This is what is going to get you new followers and help you turn the ones you already have into paying customers or clients.
Alignment
Then the third and final thing that you must have in every social media post is alignment.
What you’re posting and putting out into the world needs to be aligned with your brand, your mission, and your audience.
If something isn’t aligned or feels a little bit off, it’s not going to be well received with your followers. Because when you don’t feel completely aligned with what you’re posting, your audience is going to be able to feel that and they’re not going to like it.
You have to be aligned in your brand, messaging, and strategy to create a consistent message that allows people to easily understand your intentions and objectives. This is what builds your know, like, and trust factor that leads people to make that purchase and start working with you.
