How to Successfully Use a Tripwire In Your Sales Flow
Not too long ago I was talking to my business BFF, Sara, and she asked me a question.
“Is the tripwire dead?”
Whew. Is that a loaded question.
Let’s talk about it.
Before I share if the tripwire is dying, first let’s clarify what it even is…
A tripwire is a low cost, one time offer that is presented after someone opts in to your list.
Usually, a tripwire offer would be something under $50, so people would often jump to it. Or so they used to.
But not anymore.
We ruined it. Us entrepreneurs really screwed ourselves up because too many started offering crap products and people got sick of it. They started to learn not to buy just to buy. They started to learn that trusting who you are buying from is far more important.
We industry people broke the know, like, and trust factor and got just too salesy with them.
So can we use tripwires at all anymore?
Yes, you can still utilize them. But they really only work with products that
1. are under $15
2. provide value.
If you do it right, it’s bound to get a little momentum.
What can you do if your tripwire isn’t converting?
Build that trust. Provide value first and you’ll end up with loyal customers. Sure it’s a slower process, but the reward is far greater.
Instead of getting a few one-time customers, this slower process will gain you loyal returning customers.
And the process is fairly simple – provide value -provide value – provide value – provide value – pitch an offer – provide value – provide value – etc.
Essentially, you want to provide more value to your followers than product pushing. When they realize you have a solution to their problem and you’ve built that trust, they’re much more likely to click that buy button.
So always, always, ALWAYS remember that no one likes to be sold to. Keep building for your know, like, and trust factor and you’ll start seeing amazing things happen.
