It’s time to talk Facebook Live again.
Everybody and their grandma has probably told you that you need to go live. And sorry to say it, but it is SOOOO true!
Facebook promotes the hell out of Live and wants you to use it. The reward?
- It’ll get you that bump in the Facebook algorithm that everyone is always trying to beat.
- It’ll get your posts out there, increase your engagement, and more!
So point blank: Live is really great for your business, so you should be on live.
Yay!
But wait, you’re totally TERRIFIED of going live, right?
You know what? SO WAS I, but I learned to love it.
You read that right. The first time I went Live was very personal to me. I told my story, what I was doing and why I was there. I was putting myself out there and I was terrified.
I must have sat in front of my computer and done this video 20, maybe even 25 times, before I was finally like “Okay. I can sit here, I can say exactly what I rehearsed and I’m going to go Live and it’s going to be great.” And it was truly great.
I got a lot of love and positive feedback. I knew there was something to it, but once you really get into it, you’ll see the results and why you’ve got to go Live.
Now, I do have some tips up my sleeves here for when you’re finally ready to go Facebook Live.
First, let go of the expectation of PERFECTION.
Shit is gonna happen. So just get over it. There’s absolutely no freakin’ way that all of your Lives are going be perfect and here is the deal, no one cares. We’re all human and mistakes are inevitable- just like real life, people. No one cares if your hair is brushed or if you have make up on.
What your tribe is paying attention to is the INFORMATION you are sharing. That’s the whole point of going Live. You can screw up and everyone’s still going to love you, hell maybe they’ll love you even more for it. Be real, be you, and hit those key points.
Second, practice, practice, PRACTICE.
You do not have to go Live right away. The fear is real and it’s completely okay to take your time getting comfortable with going Live. I’ve had Lives where I’ve completely forgotten what I’ve said and stared at the camera for like five seconds like … anyways… Like I said before, shit happens.
So practice, practice, practice, practice, practice. Grab a camera and practice getting used to talking to it. It’s a little weird at first, but trust me, it will become second nature. Get a good recording and upload it to your page. The more videos you record and upload, the more comfortable you’ll get with being “on camera” and be able to dip your toe into the Facebook Live waters.
Live is truly a great tool to use to really get your business rolling in the direction you want. You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be you and remember why it is you are Live today. Again, BE REAL, BE YOU, and JUST DO IT.
