How to ORGANICALLY grow your Instagram following

I recently had a great conversation with one of my clients regarding Instagram.

I know that Instagram can be super challenging and can get frustrating, but it can be SOOOO worth it.

You might be seeing people follow you just to see if they get a follow back and then unfollow you or you might just be seeing only bot generated comments and hell, let’s be real…it can be very discouraging.

But if you play the game right, Instagram can come with many rewards.

So let’s get to it!

I have 3 creative tips and strategies to help grow your Instagram following in a natural way without the need to buy followers.

Which reminds me: NEVER BUY FOLLOWERS. It’s just a dirty way to play the Instagram game and sooooo counterproductive to your business.

Number one: hold a contest!

Contests and giveaways are such a fun and interactive way to bring attention to you and your business. Everyone one loves free shit, so holding a giveaway is a great option to get people to follow you. You can make the entry requirements as easy as liking your profile and maybe tagging someone in the contest post comments.

If you’re like, “YES! That is a great idea!” then step it up a notch and find a collaborator!

What I mean is team up with someone else in your industry that COMPLIMENTS your business (not someone who would be your competition) and get them to give something away with you as a package. You’ll not only be helping them grow their reach, but they’ll be helping you get more reach too!

Number two: use shout outs.

Shout outs are such a great way to get your ideal customers to see you while you also help others in your industry. Essentially, you and another agree to swap shout outs, which means you guys would post something on your pages about each other, highlighting you and your services, and you do the same for them. It helps you tap into their following and get your name and information out there. You’ll for sure see your reach grow.

And number three: share the love!

You’re playing the Instagram game and in order to really succeed in it, you’ve got to do something for your followers. So go to their profile and see who they’re interacting with. Are they your ideal audience? Look at comments, recent posts, click on people who have liked them and those posts, and so on. This will help you find people who are going to be interested in what you have to share since you already have a common connection to the initial page.

So how does this sharing the love works?

It’s simple really. You find these people who are part of your ideal audience and then go to their profile and like the last nine post of theirs. Just hit your little heart button and show them some loooove. Then comment on at least two of their posts with a GENUINE message.

Remember, you’re trying to build connections with REAL people, so don’t be fake or appear bot-like with a “great post.” Show some genuine interest and they’re going to appreciate the fact that you took the time out of your day to write something real about them. You’ll have a much higher chance of those people converting into followers.

So, to quickly review one more time…

Tip number one was to hold a contest or a giveaway, bonus points if you can do it with another person in your industry. Tip number two was to do shout outs and get your name out there with influencers and grow your reach that way. And tip number three was to go to pages who have similar audiences to what you’re looking to target, look at their most recent posts, find the users that are engaged with those posts, go to their page, like their pictures, and leave at least two genuine comments about what you’re seeing there, and that’s really going to help bring out everything that you have to offer.
