What You Should and Shouldn’t Include on Your Optin Page
Optin pages.
They seem very simple, and they are…
But they’re also very easy to get wrong.
So today, let’s talk about a few of the things that you should and shouldn’t include on your optin pages.
First, let’s start off with the things you NEED to have…
1. The title of your optin
This seems like a really basic one, but I’ve seen people forget it before! Besides the fact that your audience needs to know what they’re signing up for, the title is also a big part of your branding. When your audience knows the title, it’s much easier for them to make the connection to you and share it in the future!
2. Expectations
What are people getting from this? What changes will they see in their business? This can be as simple as a bullet list, but you have to let your audience know what they’re going to get in exchange for giving you their email.
3. A Sign-Up Form
You ALWAYS want to be capturing emails for every single optin. If you just have people click a button and go right to a download page, YOU ARE MISSING OUT. An optin’s main purpose, besides giving your audience a ton of value, is building your list. Your form should also be properly integrated with your email service provider. That means it’s connected and adding people to the right lists/sequences/tags.
Now let’s talk about the things you think you need, but really don’t…
1. A Photo/Mock-Up of Your Freebie
It’s nice to include if you have it or if you’re giving away an ebook, but it’s definitely not necessary! So if this one if holding you up because you think you need to pay for someone to create a mockup for you, don’t even worry about it! You have an amazing conversion rate without it.
2. TONS of Copy
Your audience is getting this for free. You’re not selling anything here, so you shouldn’t be building a sales letter style page with lots of copy explaining what they’re getting. All you need is enough copy to tell them what it is and set expectations. Anything more than that could actually be hurting your conversion rates.
3. Your Bio
If you’re doing a webinar or masterclass, yes, include your bio. But if you’re just giving away a free pdf or something like that, it’s not necessary. They’ll get to know who you are inside your freebie and your follow up emails.
And that’s it!
Optin pages should be simple and fun, so let’s stop over complicating them and trying to make them into something they’re not.
