Stock photos, stock photos, stock photos.
Can’t live with them, can’t live without them, right?
I am CONSTANTLY looking for just the right image to use for my clients and to be honest, it can get annoying. Why? Because generally speaking, everyone wants to use free images.
Now, I have nothing against paying for a stock image. I completely respect the artists creating these images and Adobe stock is one of my happy places, but for entrepreneurs just starting out, paying for every image can be an added expense that you’re just not ready to take on. So what do you do?
Since I’ve been working in online marketing, I’ve found these three sites to be the most useful:
- Pexels.com
Pexels is my absolute favorite and my number one choice when I’m looking for a new image. They have tons of beautiful, curated images that are all royalty free. You can search for exactly what you’re looking for or use the browse section if you’re not sure exactly what you’re looking for and need some inspiration. - Pixabay.com
Pixabay is my second choice. It’s very similar to pexels, you can search and all images on the site are royalty free, but it also includes illustrations, vectors, and even videos. The reason it’s my second choice is because it’s not as well curated as Pexels. You have to page through a lot of “lower” quality photos, which means finding the right images is a more time consuming process. But, if I can’t find what I’m looking for elsewhere, I know I’ll be able to find it here. It just might take a little more time. - Death to the Stock Photo
This is a recent discovery to me and I’ve been LOVING it so far. Death to the Stock photo is an amazing service that send you high quality stock photos right to your inbox every month! The photos are always gorgeous and incredible quality. The only thing about Death to the Stock photo is that with the free account you don’t choose the photos that are sent to you, so sometimes you get photos you probably won’t use. But, they do have a premium account that gives you access to EVERYTHING (including videos) in their library. If you’re going to be using lots of stock photos this is great choice.
