Why You Don’t Need To Panic About The New Changes To Facebook Groups
Facebook recently made some changes to their groups that caused everyone to freak out.
Seriously, all I kept hearing was that “OMG. I lost hundreds of members from my groups!” or ” Facebook is shutting groups down!”
“Your groups aren’t safe!”
Today, I’m here to clear the air about the new changes to Facebook groups.
First things first- stop the panic. Facebook groups aren’t shutting down and you haven’t really lost hundreds of members…
Remember when people could just add you to groups?
Like you never had to accept to be in a group, you were just thrown right in.
Well, not anymore.
Here is what’s going on:
People now have to accept to be added to a group. Upon accepting, they will be added to the group as a member and will be added to the count.
If they don’t accept it, they will be added to the invited people list and have 28 days to essentially preview the group. If they interact, they get another 28 days and so on. If they don’t interact at all, they will be removed after the 28 days.
Here’s why I’m excited about this:
I got added to groups ALL THE TIME. It was annoying because then, I had to go into each one of those groups and remove myself.
But the real reason I’m excited is because of all the good it’s going to do for your groups!
- You’ll get more targeted engagement
- Only the most qualified and interested will be members of the group
- No more negative remarks from those random people who had no interest to be there in the first place
Overall, you and your loyal members will have a better experience by genuinely interacting with each other and provide real value to your group.
Remember that it’s quality over quantity that brings you the most success. Forget about those you “lost.” They probably weren’t serving you anyways.
